My sweet cubicle mate Andrea invited me to see a Mets game and I was elated even though the weather looked threatening. We kept our eyes glued to the Dobler 4000 to pray it wouldn’t rain. Word came down that the system we miss Queens. Elated we jumped on the 7 train with her hubby Mike and San Fran friend Julie.
Sure enough, the rain came down after the national anthem and a quick spirt of fireworkds. We waited out the rain in the tunnels downing beer and spicy sausages/hot dogs. Fifteen minutes later, the weather cleared and the game commenced. And it was one of the best games I have ever been to. First of all, the seats were great. Andrea got them as a gift from a photographer. It was foul ball central so you always had to be on alert. Secondly, there was great defense, homeruns, and nerve racking 9th inning where we came out on top. Finally, the fans were the best. The fans did an impressing wave when the opposing pitcher was taken out. Every deck of the stadium was on there feet.
We were exhausted so we started to walk back to the 7 train and then the real fireworks started, and it was wonderful. The fans were so giddy. We won the game and got some early fireworks in to the forth of July weekend.
