You know the part in Lord of the Rings where Sam says, “If I take one more step, this is the farthest away from home I have ever been.” That is how I felt then I crossed the Prospect Parkway to see an apartment in the South Slope. While walking there, I could sense that this was a little too off the beat and path. My friends wouldn’t make the trek out here. Ironically, my grandmother was born around here and they decided to move away not long after her arrival. If only we had some real estate to pass down generation to generation around here. Makes you think.
Anyhoo, the place was charming and cheap, and the girl couldn’t have been nicer. She seemed about 3 years younger then me. She is really close with her neighbors who are all boys with pierced mouths, and looked like they just finished passing the bong around. I felt like I was in a college dorm for the moment. I have feeling I wont get this apartment. She can see that I’m a little too old for it. That time as passed.
